The Division of Academic and Student Affairs Marketing and Communications office executes strategic and creative development of marketing communications that support the division and its many units and departments with integrated communication solutions that include creation and consultation on web and digital communications; social media strategy; writing and editing; marketing strategy; situational communications; design; video; and photography. The MarComm office also enforces the university brand and style guidelines and supports University Communications and Marketing and other marketing teams on campus for various university-wide initiatives.
Essential Job Duties
NC State University’s Division of Academic and Student Affairs is seeking an energetic, innovative, student-centered leader for the position of marketing manager. We seek an individual with proven leadership experience capable of working in a fast-paced, results-oriented team. The candidate will provide strategic direction and execute a marketing and communications plan that promotes University Housing programs, services and facilities. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Part of the DASA Marketing and Communications Team and positioned within the University Housing office, this position will serve as the NC State University Housing marketing and communications officer.
  • Responsible for strategic development and execution of a comprehensive marketing and communications plan for University Housing.
  • Help develop a consistent brand image for the department that is innovative, dynamic, and reflective of NC State University Housing in all pieces.
  • Leads department capital campaigns and annual giving development, marketing and communications efforts for students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of NC State University Housing.
  • Work with individual unit leaders in developing and implementing marketing programs and materials to attract and retain participants through a variety of media including but not limited to print, web and social media.
  • Conceptualizes marketing and communications, including print and video materials on behalf of NC State University Housing.
  • Manage and ensure timely completion of multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Reports to and works closely with the assistant vice chancellor for strategic marketing and communications for the Division of Academic and Student Affairs to ensure the communications and marketing for University Housing align with division and university branding guidelines.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for drafting and implementing Communication Plans/Calendars for events; ensures timelines are met.
  • Writes and designs a range of creative marketing materials, including but not limited to: news articles, newsletters, web content, printed fliers, brochures, handouts, programs.
  • Develops a social media strategy and calendar that will be evaluated based on engagement metrics. Ensures consistent and accurate promotions.
  • Designs, writes and posts content to social media. Manages and monitors social media platforms.
  • Works with all University Housing units to market and advertise events to targeted audiences.
  • Manages and continually evaluates the effectiveness of the University Housing website. Creates content using SEO best practices.
  • Develops a strategy and the creation of newsletters for University Housing in collaboration with each unit’s director. Previous experience using a marketing email platform with the ability to segment audiences is preferred.
  • Posts articles and information on the website; continually explores inventive approaches to website information presentation.
  • Plans and oversees marketing and communications budget and related expenses; gains approval where needed.
  • Maintains the e-bulletin boards within University Housing to ensure information is updated and accurate.
  • Keeps the calendar of events up to date on the University Housing website.
  • Actively seeks out events and activities within University Housing to highlight happenings to internal and external constituents of the University.
  • Establishes and maintains positive and on-going contact with key vendors and event partners as appropriate.

Qualifications


Minimum Experience/Education

Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Other Required Qualifications
  • Experience in planning and/or executing marketing and communication initiatives across multiple channels, including digital and print
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, able to vary writing style to communicate with a range of target audiences
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience creating social media content, launching and managing social media platforms, writing blogs, designing infographics, and posting content to a range of platforms according to a schedule
  • Excellent knowledge of WordPress platform and basic HTML knowledge for web site development and maintenance
  • Self-starter who is comfortable working independently and in a team environment. Ability to follow through on tasks with minimal supervision
  • Desire to excel in a fast-paced, objective- driven environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in event scheduling, planning including budget management
  • Experience in a public university or non-profit organizational setting
  • Experience with project coordination, timelines and ensuring on-time deliverables
  • Experience designing newsletters, fliers, brochures, web graphics and other promotional content using a design software platform
