Job Summary: The Marketing Intern engages students, faculty, and staff through various forms of media and events to encourage Energy Conservation on The University of Alabama campus. Creates media using Adobe Creative Cloud or similar software for posters, TV media, video, and more. Works with departments on campus to create energy conservation contests and events on campus. Develops marketing plans for the upcoming Summer, Fall, and Spring semesters. Acts as a liaison between UA Energy Management and the students on campus. Additional duties as assigned.


Additional Department Summary: This position is located on-campus at the University Facilities Administration Building.

Past students in this position brought energy awareness to the UA community by coordinating/developing energy conservation efforts while working with Strategic Communications, Alabama Power, Residential Life, and Athletics.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Current University of Alabama undergraduate student pursuing a Marketing, Creative Media, Advertising, or Public Relations degree. Completed sophomore year.

Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.


Skills and Knowledge: Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud or similar software.


Preferred Qualifications: Experience planning events, designing graphics, posting on business social media profiles, working on marketing campaign, and public speaking.


Enrollment Requirements: Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment. Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters. Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment. Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
