Arts Everywhere is a campus-wide arts initiative supported by the Office of the Chancellor at UNC-Chapel Hill and housed within the Executive Director for the Arts. Established in 2016, Arts Everywhere collaborates with diverse partners to embed the arts into daily life at Carolina through creative and cutting-edge programs that promote artistic expression, live arts experiences and learning through the arts. The initiative’s vision reflects the potential impact of the arts at a leading, global, public research university: a global force for public good, the arts at Carolina generate new knowledge, develop citizen leaders, address complex challenges, and catalyze economic development. Position Description

The Marketing & Development Communications Manager works to advance Arts Everywhere’s campus-wide mission – to embed the arts into daily life at Carolina through creative and cutting-edge programs that promote artistic expression, live arts experiences, and learning through the arts. This position leads and manages content and communication strategies and activities in order to create an integrated, comprehensive, engaging and effective approach to Arts Everywhere’s brand development and fundraising communications/solicitations. The totality of the communications efforts should promote Arts Everywhere’s mission, brand, impact, and advancement efforts.

This role is both strategic and tactical, requiring the ability to think big while minding all the details. The incumbent must be a savvy project manager who is comfortable juggling multiple projects for different people on different timelines. They must be an exceptionally organized, detail-oriented self-starter who has outstanding written and verbal communication skills. This role will report to and work closely with the Associate Director (AD) on all projects, in addition to partnering with other staff to coordinate organizational storytelling to various stakeholders.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Successful candidates must have at least 3 years of progressive development and/or communications experience. The ideal candidate must demonstrate the following:
• Knowledge of the development process and understanding of all stages of the relationship with individual donors (identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship).
• Diplomatic, creative, and effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences, are essential.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people, and to keep leadership well-informed of project progress and changes.
• Ability to develop, implement, and improve systems and processes.
• Ability to work as part of a cohesive, collaborative team player as well as to independently plan, manage, and meet deadlines for multiple projects with limited supervision and a positive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with:
• Experience in a major research university or arts setting
• Knowledge of and experience developing social media strategies
• Knowledge of the arts and prior event experience
• Experience with donor CRMs
• Commitment to Arts Everywhere’s mission and vision
