Position Description

Reporting to the AVP of Marketing, this position assists in ensuring the successful implementation and design of the HUECU marketing plan and is responsible for design support of marketing and advertising objectives across all channels while maintaining brand identity.

Job specific responsibilities: 

  • Develops original creative content for both digital, video and print campaigns.
  • Ensures consistent brand identity across all channels, including both external and internal communications.
  • Facilitates the updating of existing collateral materials and creative assets to maintain accuracy and relevance.
  • Along with the AVP of Marketing, maintains marketing calendar to ensure all advertising campaigns, communication plans, and other marketing activities are executed on schedule.
  • Communicates with vendors/partners, including designers, printers, and creative agencies to ensure timely production of materials and fulfillment of marketing projects.
  • Secures approval from internal stakeholders and third-party review services for all advertising collateral and other communications with regards to completeness, accuracy of information, and compliance.
  • Creates document templates and standardized design elements based on brand guidelines.
  • Ensures brand standards are adhered to and maintained.
  • Designs seamlessly across platforms including digital, print, social and multimedia.
  • Collaborates across departments to deliver effective communications and marketing projects.
  • Maintains graphic updates and designs for website.
  • Applies best practices associated with design and typography in both digital and print.
  • Executes the production and editing of in-house videos for use on the Credit Union website, social media and at various community events.
  • Sets up and operates media equipment, including video, film, photographic, audio, and digital.
  • Designs event materials and provides event support, including photography and video assistance.
  • Creates corporate PowerPoint design for internal and external use.
  • Creates infographics or custom design elements to represent data or statistics.
  • Performs various other duties to support the department as needed.

Basic Qualifications

The following qualifications are the minimum threshold for which a candidate must meet in order to be considered for this role.

  • Education beyond High School is required (ex. Associated degree, technical courses in graphic design).
  • Minimum three years of design experience in a Marketing, Advertising, Communications or other directly related role.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Preference for degree in Design, Advertising, Communications or other Marketing related field
  • Exceptional computer skills, including fluency in Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud.
  • Strong knowledge of current graphic design and digital marketing best practices.
  • Experience with WordPress and Hubspot platforms.
  • Specific experience with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Adobe Premier and After Effects.
  • Experience with copywriting and proofreading.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation abilities.
  • Understands digital marketing best practices, including emerging trends and new technology.

Working Conditions

Interview and onboarding activity for this position may be conducted via telephone & Zoom video conferencing, based on the department’s current presence on campus. 

Harvard University Employees Credit Union (HUECU) is an on-campus community and all positions are based in Boston and Cambridge.

The majority of jobs at HUECU are hybrid remote/office. During the initial 90-day training period, new employees may be expected to work in the office more frequently, up to full time. When appropriate, remote work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered (CT, MA, MD, ME, NH, NY, RI, NH, and VT).  Additional details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Schedule

M - F 7.00hrs per day/35.00hrs per week default schedule with a one hour unpaid lunch break.
Additional hours will be expected, either early/late weekdays and weekend hours based upon the business needs of the department.  Expected to attend after hours meetings and events as required.
This position is part of the bargaining unit and is overtime eligible.
