Job Summary

This is a half-time, 17.5 hours per week, fully benefits eligible position.


Summary:
Reporting to the marketing manager at Harvard Radcliffe Institute (HRI), the marketing coordinator is critical in reaching local, regional, national, and international audiences for all public conferences, exhibitions, lectures, and fellowship talks hosted by HRI. The marketing coordinator will develop and implement event marketing strategies, including producing a range of marketing materials for use on multiple platforms, maintaining contacts and program evaluation databases, coordinating all event outreach efforts, and working with individuals across HRI and Harvard University to support successful events.

The ideal candidate will be a highly organized multi-tasker, relationship builder and facilitator, and thrive in a deadline-driven environment. They will have experience taking direction around goals and working both collaboratively and independently to achieve desired outcomes, incorporating feedback along the way and demonstrating a high degree of initiative and ownership. 


Position Description

  • Participates in the planning and execution of event-specific marketing plans.
  • Assists in creating and producing all print and digital marketing and advertising materials; collaborates with content, design, multimedia, and marketing colleagues on execution.
  • Produces digital ads for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms as needed. Monitors engagement and modifies ad placement as necessary.
  • Analyzes results of promotional efforts and adjusts implementation plans as necessary.
  • Work within a Salesforce customer relationship management (CRM) system to target appropriate database segments; create event marketing emails; update and maintain contact records.
  • Researches and generates recipient lists targeting Harvard groups, higher education institutions, and external organizations; writes and submits event announcements to relevant Harvard calendars and digital publications.
  • Traffics proofing of emails, process edits and feedback from reviewers, and manages final approval process.
  • Manages assigned project timelines and communicates with stakeholders regarding promotional requirements, status, and deadlines.
  • Provides updates on promotional efforts to communications colleagues and relevant department heads.
  • Recommend and experiment with new marketing approaches.

Basic Qualifications

  • Three years’ experience in event marketing and communications, specializing in digital and social media marketing.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) experience is a must.

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills and knowledge of online content strategy and creation, and/or experience with SEO.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and/or similar CRM software and Photoshop is highly preferred.
  • High sensitivity to problem-solving and collaborative decision-making
  • Ability to receive, respond to, and thoughtfully implement guidance.
  • Capacity to manage multiple priorities and to complete deliverables on time.
  • Detail-focused working style
  • Some understanding of digital marketing, including social media marketing, email marketing, and analytics is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, capacity to complete deliverables on time, demonstrate strong initiative, and ability to collaborate in a fast-paced work setting.

  • This job is primarily performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
  • Support outside of regularly scheduled hours, including weekends, will occasionally be required.

Work Format Details
This role is offered as a primarily on-campus position where the incumbent will be required to be onsite at our Cambridge, MA-based campus regularly. There may be occasional opportunities to work remotely.  Specific schedule will be determined between the incumbent and manager. Any remote work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered to do business (CA*, CT, GA, IL, MA, MD, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI, VA, VT, and WA).

Work Format Details

This is a hybrid position that is based in Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
