Job Summary
 

Plays a crucial role in developing and implementing marketing communications strategies and comprehensive plans to advance Kennesaw State University's strategic goals. Collaborates with internal University Marketing and Communications staff as well as college and/or department level marketing and communication professionals across campus, the President's Office, senior leadership, and University Advancement to develop communication strategies that are consistent with University priorities and that will successfully share strategic messages, supports growth in brand recognition, increases financial support of the institution, and encourages lifelong engagement of our audiences.


Responsibilities
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  
1. Works closely with Office of the President, Cabinet members, Deans and other senior university leaders to develop general or event-specific communications and marketing strategies
2. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop integrated marketing communication strategies aligned with the university's goals and objectives
3. Assists the content team in creating compelling, audience-specific content for various channels, including but not limited to website, social media, email campaigns, and print materials
4. Upholds and evolves the university's brand identity, ensuring consistency in messaging, visual elements, and tone of voice
5. Plans and executes multi-channel marketing campaigns, leveraging a combination of online and offline channels across the organization to maximize reach and impact
6. Coordinates with graphic designers, photographers, and videographers to create visually appealing assets
7. Utilizes analytics tools to track and measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement
8. Uses market research and university strategic plan to translate concise and quantifiable business goals into marketing communications and initiatives
9. Serves as project manager, editor, and/or developer for print and electronic communications pieces for both internal and external audiences to support executive messages and university goals, including project summaries, proposals for individuals or organizations, project summaries for an array of strategic goals, and other materials as assigned
10. Implements comprehensive marketing communication plans for assigned school and unit-level tasks in an effective manner, including, but not limited to, writing, editing, obtaining approvals, managing the creative process, client relations, etc.
11. Ensures all products and services are of the highest standards in the areas of content, design, and impact.
12. Provides writing support as needed for university magazines, or other publications and direct stories and article ideas to the magazine team
13. Collaborates with faculty, staff, alumni, and other stakeholders to gather input and feedback for marketing initiatives


Required Qualifications
 

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Marketing, Communications, or a related field
Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid and unrestricted Georgia driver's license
Required Experience
Three (3) years of experience in marketing communications, to include a proven track record in developing and executing successful marketing and communication campaigns for both internal and external audiences; collaborating cross-functionally and influencing at all organizational levels, including with senior institutional leaders; and program management, campaign strategy, and partnership development.

An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field

Extensive knowledge of journalistic style and grammar, with strong editing and proofreading skills is required

Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
