The Princeton University Art Museum is searching for a Marketing and Public Relations Associate.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a role in promoting one of the leading university art museums in the country, with collections that have grown to include over 115,000 works of art ranging from ancient to contemporary art and spanning the globe.

The Marketing and Public Relations Associate will provide a broad range of organizational and communication services for the Museum, reporting to the Marketing and Public Relations Manager.

The successful candidate will assist in general marketing and PR activities, manage the Museum’s social media presence, manage the production calendar for Marketing and Communications, and assist in developing, communicating, and tracking production schedules with departments throughout the Museum.

With a collecting history that extends back to 1755, the Princeton University Art Museum is one of the leading university art museums in the country, home to collections that have grown to include more than 115,000 works of art ranging from ancient to contemporary art and spanning the globe. Committed to advancing the University’s teaching and research missions, the Museum also serves as a hub for the humanities at Princeton for visitors worldwide. The Museum currently presents exhibitions in its two downtown venues (Art on Hulfish and Art@Bainbridge) and is touring collections exhibitions nationally and internationally. When the Museum opens its dramatically reconceived building, scheduled for 2025, it will initiate a new exhibitions program with annual exhibitions on-site and on tour

  • Provide support to the Manager of Marketing and Public Relations: respond to external press requests; traffic advertising requests and placements; create and submit design requests for Museum advertising and marketing materials; track review process for communications deliverables (including news releases, program mailers, social media posts, website content, etc.); manage social media presence, update external online calendars with Museum events; submit invoices for payment; communicate with vendors about contracted services.
  • Manage the Museum’s social media presence, including content creation and scheduling of posts for several platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Responsibilities include ensuring communication of the Museum’s curatorial scholarship, exhibitions, public programming, major events, and acquisitions.
  • Provide support to Communications: manage project management software (Air Table); determine production deadlines and schedules for marketing/advertising materials in close collaboration with project stakeholders throughout the Museum and as needed, within the University.


  • Essential Requirements

    • Two to five years of related work experience
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
    • Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a broad array of people
    • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to set priorities and juggle competing demands
    • Tact, excellent judgment, and the ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive situations and information
    • Excellent project coordination skills with particular attention to detail and accuracy
    • This is a full-time position with some in-person after-hours on-campus responsibilities as required.

    Preferred Requirements

    • Knowledge of museums and/or art history
    • Experience managing social media presence for a museum, cultural heritage institution, or non-profit organization
    • Project management of multiple priorities/projects simultaneously
    • Advanced digital skills (Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Photoshop)
    • Knowledge of current Museum project management and communications platforms, including Airtable, Mailchimp, Meta platform, Canva, Hootsuite
