As a member of the Office of Marketing Communications (OMC) at Fisher College of Business, the Marketing and Communications Strategist will manage email strategy for Fisher College of Business and provide marketing and communications generalist support for the Risk Institute.

Through cultivation and execution of email marketing plans, this role will  ensure strategic and consistent communications and fundamental email marketing best practices for Fisher’s many audiences, including alumni, donors, friends, prospective and current students, corporate partners and others as needed.

For all email needs, this position:

  • Collaborates with the other marketing and communications team members and supports the Associate Marketing and Communications Director in developing strategic marketing communications to Fisher’s audiences to activate engagement with the college.

  • Evaluates and enhances existing deliverables, such as the college’s monthly email newsletter, targeted alumni emails, event invitations and rankings emails, DEI messaging and executive communications.

  • Provides thought partnership in content strategy, copy editing and email design.

  • Develops, designs and deploys responsive email communications using university email tools and templates consistent with university brand guidelines for email systems used across the college (e.g. Salesforce Marketing Cloud, BBIS, Mailchimp, etc.).

  • Shares analytics of email performance with key stakeholders and OMC team members to explore opportunities for testing to strengthen email strategies.

  • Collaborates with university email marketing staff and participates in enterprise-wide communities of practice (e.g., Email Community of Practice).

  • Provides technical support to other Fisher email communicators.

  • Maintains industry knowledge by actively seeking information on trends, MarTech tools and best practices.

For the Risk Institute, this position:

  • Provides generalist marketing and communications support to the Risk Institute’s email strategies, ongoing communications and marketing management, with the goal of increasing visibility by planning, managing and executing news and information strategies to Risk Institute audiences;

  • Oversees the development and implementation of long-range strategic plans for innovative delivery of communications and marketing, including program and membership promotion, project management, media management, print and graphic media, video and web communications, digital and social media, and media support for special events.

  • Researches, writes and/or edits and distributes press releases and news items for the Risk Institute.

  • Conducts interviews, researches topics and creates and manages risk content for print and electronic communications in close collaboration with the institute and other members of Fisher's Office of Marketing and Communications (OMC).

  • Coordinates with OMC to establish and sustain design standards for Risk Institute communication materials.

  • Ensures compliance with Fisher and university branding rules and guidelines, and advocates for the university's brand integrity and appropriate messaging to a broad range of audiences and stakeholders.

  • Supervises and directs student employees in the execution of the marketing and advertising materials and the supporting activities.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and/or experience in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field of study. Experience with email marketing platforms such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, MailChimp, Constant Contact or other email platforms. Two years’ experience executing email marketing and other marketing and communication tactics of both print and electronic forms, including, but not limited to press releases, social media, websites and various print media; proficient in Adobe Creative Suite applications, including InDesign and Illustrator.

Desired Qualifications

Marketing experience in an institutional or industry research and development environment; knowledge of Ohio State branding guidelines; experience in photography and videography; experience with website content management systems; special events coverage experience preferred.


Additional Information:

The target hiring range for this job profile is $49,800 - $66,400. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
