The Master of Software Engineering (MSE) Programs, which are part of the Software and Societal Systems Department (S3D) at Carnegie Mellon University, are dedicated to training the next generation of technology leaders. We invite outstanding candidates to join our administrative team as our Marketing and Communications Manager.
The Marketing and Communications Manager will lead strategic marketing initiatives for the MSE suite of programs with responsibility for all internal and external communications functions. Reporting to the Senior Academic Program Manager, the Marketing and Communications Manager works closely with other members of the MSE and S3D teams, including faculty, staff and students, as well as program alumni.
This role is responsible for developing a strategic plan for outreach and communications that drives brand growth and enhances the program’s reputation, generating enrollment marketing campaigns, and developing and managing program communications channels, i.e. website, social media, etc.

Your Core responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing effective marketing strategies to advance MSE’s brand.
  • Strategic website content development, planning, execution, and analytics with a focus on UX and SEO standard processes.
  • Maintaining MSE website and crafting new web pages within the university CMS.
  • Establishing and coordinating measurement of key performance indicators (KPI) in earned, owned and paid media for MSE marketing and communications activities.
  • Tracking visitor engagement with program communications across our channels, including website, social media, and email.
  • Provide communication-related support for program admissions, alumni and corporate relations, a distinguished speaker series, and other in-person and virtual events and activities.
  • Oversee design of digital promotional materials and announcements for social media and email.
  •  Create infographics from program data for internal and external communications.
  • Coordinate with S3D department communications manager and staff, including the S3D videography team to film, edit and create videos to market MSE programs.
  • Manage a contact database of students, faculty, alumni, corporate partners and other interested parties across multiple channels including social media and email.
  • Periodically updating the department and program leadership on the success of the communications and marketing strategy.

You should demonstrate:  

  • Start-up mentality
  • A nuanced understanding of digital experience technologies from both marketer and consumer point of view, with awareness of developing trends and IT solutions
  • Flexibility to work at strategic and execution levels
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3-5 years communications and marketing experience
  • Experience developing reporting standards and creating monthly dashboards to monitor progress and improvements
