Primary responsibilities of this coordinator position will revolve around the oversight of OU Housing and Food Services’ Housing and Residence Life marketing efforts. They will manage the day-to-day direction of publicity, campaign management and social media exposure. Building relationships with the Housing and Residence Life directors and staff also is a vital role to the position. They will at times design and create marketing materials (e.g. promotional flyers, signage, digital graphics, etc.) and be involved with the hands-on work associated with promotional development (e.g. updating Facebook pages, tweeting, working housing fairs, presenting to current or potential students etc.). They also will supervise student interns.

In addition to the management of Housing and Residence Life marketing, this position could be assigned to similar tasks supporting Food Services and other departments within University Operations, at times.

 Duties Include: 


  • Assist with the further development of communication planand additional larger campaigns 
  • Develop and manage marketing plans for on-campus housing options  
  • Maintain communication with Housing and Residence Life directors and staff about campaign statuses and results  
  • Plan for long-term development and growth of Housing and Residence Life initiatives 
  • Occasionally craft media responses and releases  
  • Media buying  
  • Manage Housing and Food Services' social media presence  
  • Plan and handle specific short-term tactical work for Housing and Residence Life (research campaign planning, event management and writing)  
  • Produce creative pieces as needed  
  • Monitor budgets and profitability  
  • Supervise student employees, including hiring, firing, training, and evaluating performance 
  • Prepare status reports for direct supervisor and others 
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.


 

Job Requirements

Required Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, communications, public relations or a related field, AND:  


  • 24 months experience in marketing, public relations or communications

Equivalency/Substitution:  Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 72 months of related experience.

Skills:


  • Programs/Software - Microsoft Office proficiency 

  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe CS programs 

  • Strong working knowledge and previous professional work experience in social media platforms

  • Strong writing and editing skills along with strong working knowledge of AP Style

  • Must be able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty and staff

  • Must have strong initiative to solve problems.

Certifications:


  • Valid driver’s license for off-site and Health Science Center promotional events.

Advertised Physical Requirements:


  • Must be able to climb, crouch, pull, push, engage in repetitive motions, grasp, walk, feel, touch, speak, including expressing oneself or exchanging information with others; see, including color, depth perception and clarity, and hear including receiving detailed information orally.  

  • Ability to lift objects less than 15 pounds.

Department Preferences:

  • Writing, editing and proofreading experience

  • Social media management experience

  • Experience with broadcast production and editing (photography, videography)

  • PR/Advertising agency experience

  • Web development and content management experience

  • 3-5 years marketing account management experience

  • 2-4 years supervisory experience

Supervision:


  • Position supervises 5-10 Marketing Interns
