Brief Summary of Work for this Position
Operate a New Hanover County School bus, UNCW shuttle, or passenger van to safely transport program participants between events and locations, according to the program schedule.
Responsibilities include:
  • Work as a team with MarineQuest instructors
  • Remain with bus or group during work hours
  • General cleanliness and upkeep of the vehicle
  • Report maintenance needs to supervisors immediately
  • Adhere to all New Hanover County School Bus policies and procedures, as well as UNCW MarineQuest policies and procedures.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
  • Must possess necessary licenses to drive assigned vehicle (Commercial NC Driver’s License)
  • Current New Hanover County bus driver
  • Experience transporting K-12 students on the activity bus
  • Clean driving record

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Interest in marine environments
  • First Aid and CPR Certification

Required Certifications or Licensure
  • Commercial NC Driver’s License

College/School Information
Work Hours Half-day positions: 7:30AM - 12:15PM Monday – Friday ; Full-day 7:30AM - 4:15PM Monday-Thursday, and 7:30AM - 1:45PM Friday; Evenings 5:30PM- 9:00PM & Friday 7:30AM - 9:00AM
Work Days Daytime positions: Monday-Friday, Evening positions: Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday mornings
Hours Per Week Half-day positions 20-25 hours, Full-day positions 40 hours, Evening positions 5-20 hours

Please note, this is a temporary position. The length of the assignment will be based on department need with the possibility of continuation. Temporary assignments cannot exceed 11 consecutive months without a full 31-day break from employment.
