Serve as second assistant engineering officer aboard an ocean research ship of approximately 2000 gross tons.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Stand engine room watch as operating engineer of propulsion or auxiliary machinery;
• Direct engineering department personnel as assigned;
• Instruct department's in-service program in engineering;
• Provide direction to personnel doing routine maintenance and assist in emergency repair of propulsion or auxiliary machinery and electrical systems;
• Maintain operating and maintenance logs and records;
• Serve as principal assistant to Chief Marine Engineer for fueling operations;
• Perform related duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

U.S. Coast Guard Second Assistant Engineer's license valid for operation of a 6000 HP inspected ocean motor vessel.
