The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.


Position Summary

Reporting to the Director and CEO of the Zuckerman Institute, the Managing Director will help shape the scientific vision for the MRI platform and is responsible for ensuring a hands-on smooth day-to-day functioning, overseeing at a high level all business operations and management of the MRI platform staff. The Managing Director is a key member of leadership, contributing both scientifically and managerially for the platform. Responsibilities for compliance, budgeting, grant writing and implementation of technological advancements to enhance daily operations to move science forward are part of this role. Central to this role is the ability to work collaboratively with Institute leadership, other MRI platform directors, and user committees.


Responsibilities

  • Management of the MRI Platform, including direct supervision of the MR staff including the MR Physicist, MR Safety Officer, MR Research Administrator and MR Technologist.
  • Directing the Platform’s annual and long-term financial planning and budgeting.
  • Implementing the strategic plans for the Platform’s facilities, equipment, and other technical needs.
  • Facilitating collaborations between the MRI Platform and other University departments, centers, and institutes.
  • Implementation, and ongoing improvement of standard operating procedures for use of the MRI Platform by researchers, faculty, and students.
  • Organizing the planning, management, and submission of center-level and other complex grant proposals originating from the MRI Platform.
  • Ensuring compliance with institutional, state, and federal regulations related to human research, animal research, and other categories of research conducted using the MRI Platform.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent in a related field. A minimum of 5 years of professional experience preferably in an academic research setting.

  • Must have demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to manage and motivate teams. The candidate will have both scientific knowledge in this specialized area of MRI. Critical to this role are people skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and work collegially with all levels of stakeholders in a complex organization to move the science forward. Managerial experience in radiology or imaging services is highly preferred.
