Job Description Summary:

Reporting to the Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, the Managing Director, Lerner Health and Wellness functions as chief officer for the Lerner Health and Wellness Center.
The Managing Director’s responsibilities include:
  • Supervise direct reports; facilities management; safety, compliance, and risk management; develop policies and procedures; manage District Government zoning orders; manage university strategic partners; serve as liaison to campus partners and key stakeholders; budget management; marketing and communications; and assessment.
  • Provide the vision, leadership, and overall delivery of integrated, comprehensive, and quality student health and well-being services.
  • Develop and execute short-term and long-range planning for facility enhancements and maintenance through the repair and replacement plans for the facility.
  • Direct assessment strategies and evidenced-based programs. Coordinate accreditation requirements and relevant professional standards.
  • Lead compliance initiatives for human resource administration to include succession planning, labor relations, performance management, recruitment, and retention.
  • Establish and direct Campus Recreation’s overall marketing plan, to ensure campus and patron awareness, with attention to accuracy and engagement
  • Coordinate financial modeling that monitors cost containment and revenue generation. Oversee budget status and ensure business processes are established, followed, and maintained
  • Review and approve financial and business processes and requests.

The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 10 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 8 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Student Personnel Administration, Campus Recreation/Health/PE Administration, Sport Management, Higher Education, or a related field
  • Experience in collegiate/municipal recreation with demonstrated increasing responsibility in personnel, program, facility, and fiscal management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of collegiate recreational sports
  • Ability to plan, organize, direct, and evaluate the work of a diverse staff
  • Budget development and maintenance skills
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Fundamental knowledge of facility construction/maintenance
  • Knowledge of Risk Management protocols and applications
  • Ability to function within limits of, and adhere to institutional, divisional, and departmental policies and procedures
  • Fundamental knowledge of recreation related equipment
  • Basic computer skills
  • Preferred Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certifications
  • Accredited National Fitness Certifications such as NSCA, ACE or AFAA certifications in Group Fitness, and ACSM, NASM, or ACE certifications in Personal Training and/or Health Coaching. CPR/AED certification
  • Certified Pool Operator License and other relevant licensure related to the field
Typical Hiring Range Commensurate with Experience.
