Position Summary:

Job Description:

A Manager of Financial Planning and Analytics at The University of Tennessee Medical Center is an analytical minded individual capable of providing sound financial analysis and leadership in complex financial reporting across the organization. The manager supports clinical operations from a financial perspective with accurate analyses, effective reporting, and recommendations for improvement. This position must have the ability to work at a detail level, provide analysis, teach other analysts, lead meetings and present at an executive level. The candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to establish effective working relationships throughout the organization and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities:

Analyze variances to standards

Identify and interpret historical trends

Develop forecasting models

Routinely prepare reports for executive management

Complete financial analyses in support of proforma development and monitoring

Design reports that communicate performance, identify issues, and contribute to better management decisions

Develop profitability analyses for service lines and Centers of Excellence

Monitor performance to metrics and explain variances

Support clinical operations through financial reporting, analyses, and recommend action plans

Extract appropriate data from supporting systems and prepare ad hoc analyses and reports

Manage timelines for projects

Identify opportunities for improvement and pursue change

Recognize and understand the flow of data and impact from upstream and downstream systems

Leads other analysts, reviews work, and is responsible for their development and education

Takes initiative to stay current on healthcare trends (HFMA, THA, Advisory Board, Becker)

Ensures data integrity through audit & analysis

Troubleshoot and remedy data anomalies


Position Qualification:

Job Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Analytics or related field is required.

Strong Microsoft Excel skills are essential to this role. The qualified applicant must have effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a highly collaborative team environment, as well as independently taking initiative and leadership in moving projects forward.

Healthcare experience working with data from various sources including but not limited to Cost Accounting, Decision Support, Revenue Cycle, Managed Care, General Ledger, Payroll, Physician Practice, Patient Accounting & Supply Chain, is preferred. Experience with Strata or Performance Analytics highly preferred.
