The Department of Medical Education has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Manager, Programs to work in Miami, FL.   The manager, programs oversees and coordinates the day-to-day operations of the assigned University programs in accordance with the institution’s academic and strategic missions. The incumbent operates with the goal of delivering high quality programs to the University faculty and staff and other key stakeholders. Furthermore, the manager, programs provides guidance and mentorship to program staff to encourage talent development.

  • Plans, implements, evaluates, and monitors organization-wide development programs.

  • Implements project plans related to the delivery of new and on-going professional development programs.

  • Works with internal stakeholders so that the program runs efficient and effectively.

  • Evaluates and measures the effectiveness of assigned programs.

  • Ensures that operations are managed within authorized budgets.

  • Collects, manages, and reports program data.

  • Develops and cultivates relationships and partnerships with various external entities and organizations to further department functions.

  • Recruits, supervises, evaluates, and disciplines department staff to ensure optimum performance.

  • Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                               

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field required

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience

  • Knowledge of business and management principles.

  • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.

  • Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan.

  • Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.

  • Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS

  • Plans, implements, evaluates, and monitors organization-wide programs

  • Ensures that operations are managed within authorized budgets

  • Approves/denies and processes all activity requisitions and reimbursement from medical student activity accounts.

  • Screens, approves, and coordinates all student fundraising activities.

  • Work with the Director in task related to the UMMSM commencement ceremony in collaboration with UM Office of Commencement Staff.

  • Assist the Director of Student Life in planning and implementation of the annual student research symposium (ESRF).

  • Supports student leadership development efforts and traditions of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

  • Mitchell Wolfson Department of Community Service (DOCS) Program Administrative Leader –

  • MDR949-Free Clinic elective coordinator for 3 present classes

  • attends health fairs as often as possible (which includes occasional weekend schedule) to provide administrative and troubleshooting support to student leaders and volunteers

  • works with internal stakeholders to ensure program runs efficiently and effectively

  • develops and cultivates relationships and partnerships with various external entities and organizations to further department functions

  • FKHF contract execution involving working with hotel, Purchasing and all participating physicians and departments

  • responsible for sending HIPAA access, training material and adding (navigators, MPD, PHD, etc) to RedCap data management system

  • establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the DOCS program, and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees and volunteers are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
