Position Summary

The Manager of Student Basic Needs reports directly to the Director of Wellness CNM supporting areas of administration in the Division of Enrollment Management and Student Success and Student Life, as part of the Wellness CNM initiative. This position will contribute to managing staff and program needs serving students while cultivating belonging and connectedness, and provide resources and support needed to thrive at CNM. This position will support the director in initiatives and systems designed to support students struggling with basic needs such as food and housing, in both acute and chronic circumstances.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participates in the management and coordination of the basic needs program area; perform a full range of administrative duties in support of the basic needs program area; coordinate with other departments and program areas; ensure activities and operations comply with basic needs program requirements.
  • Assists with the coordination of planning, design, and implementation of basic needs program elements that support service delivery; participate in processes to define scope and schedule of services and activities; participate in implementation processes.
  • Provides resource management to ensure students and the community have access to support programs.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of reporting systems for ongoing data collection to support the development and improvement of procedures and programs.
  • Manages program efforts such as; assisting in coordinating staff, work guidance to volunteers and student workers, order, pick up, receive, and stock food items and maintain food quality controls.
  • Collaborates with departments, director and community to include the coordination of various pragmatic services.
  • May oversee the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training, promotion, enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendation for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and two (2) years experience in social services, non-profit programming, direct services provision or related field
  • OR
  • Associates and three (4) years experience in social services, non-profit programming, direct services provision or related field

Preferences:

  • Experience working with diverse populations in a social service setting with a background in social work, community support work, community support services, or other applicable field/role
  • Working knowledge of basic needs resources in the Central New Mexico Region
  • Working knowledge of basic needs challenges experienced by students in higher education settings 
  • Familiarity with the CNM food pantry and/or basic needs services
