Job Description:

Under the direct supervision of the Sr. Director of Enrollment & Marketing Analytics and working across the Student Enrollment and Engagement division, the Manager of Enrollment Analytics & Strategy conducts research and data analysis for informing decisions related to enrollment management, financial aid leveraging, student retention and success.

Working directly with senior leadership, the Manager of Enrollment Analytics & Strategy serves as the lead for analyzing and forecasting student enrollment, retention and financial aid metrics for strategic planning purposes. This position develops models to project future enrollment, retention and graduation rates, analyzes the effectiveness of enrollment and retention initiatives, monitors persistence through the student enrollment lifecycle, and makes recommendations for improvements based on their findings. The Manager of Enrollment Analytics & Strategy conducts quantitative statistical analysis to identify drivers for student success, develops predictive enrollment models, and provides relevant data to support and assess enrollment, financial aid, and student success initiatives. Additionally, the Manager of Enrollment Analytics & Strategy will identify and implement new tools and technologies for improved student success reporting and analytics capabilities.

The individual in this role will be challenged to think critically about how to approach analysis projects that require the development of new forecasting models, and support strategic initiatives. To be successful in this role, the Manager of Enrollment Analytics & Strategy will utilize a combination of exceptional technical skills, creative problem solving, and understanding of enrollment management, student success, and financial aid strategy.

The work of the individual in this role has a direct impact on the institution’s enrollment, student persistence, and revenue goals. In order to be successful in the role, candidates will have a strong track record in data management, enrollment analytics, modeling, and research methods, and bring a data-driven mindset to the team. They must be comfortable working independently, have a keen eye for detail and strong organizational skills, and be able to thrive working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Report on student enrollment and financial KPIs such as retention/persistence, graduation, student debt levels, demographic/geographic trends, and enrollment models/forecasts.
  • Create and maintain statistical models of student flow through the institution and use those models to simulate the effect of proposed changes to enrollment practices, as well as to make short-term and long-term enrollment projections.
  • Model financial aid awarding options that enable the institution to allocate aid in alignment with enrollment and retention strategy.
  • Report on and analyze the effectiveness of various retention activities, including continuing student scholarships, advising, and student success programming.
  • Work collaboratively with the Student Enrollment and Engagement leadership team to review the findings of their analysis and make recommendations to inform intervention strategies and advising/student success programming, and with Student Financial Services to inform allocation of the financial aid budget to optimize enrollment and student success outcomes.
  • Develop a set of standardized reports for regularly monitoring student enrollment data throughout the cycle to detect anomalies that could indicate need for tactical change.
  • Initiate, and produce original research projects addressing enrollment questions and issues.
  • Provide recommendations on optimization strategies based on evaluating the entire scope of enrollment, financial aid, and student success activities.
  • Identify and implement system enhancements to improve reporting capabilities, data accuracy, and accessibility.
  • As needed, identify external resources to augment internal capabilities.
  • Prepare reports of findings and present data graphically and in narrative form; report distribution will include members of the institution’s senior leadership team.
  • Track, analyze, and forecast results based on enrollment trends.
  • Stay informed of industry trends and new innovations in enrollment management, financial aid leveraging, and student success.

Required Skills

  • Strong technical, statistical, reporting and data visualization skills, including advanced level Microsoft Excel, business intelligence reporting and data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau).
  • Knowledge of regression analysis/multivariate statistical analysis.
  • Ability to summarize analytical work in writing and present findings in a visually compelling way to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to join data from various databases and systems into workable data sets.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to produce accurate work.
  • Ability to execute critically important responsibilities in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Ability to work quickly, manage multiple projects, and work independently with commitment to detail and accuracy.
  • A thorough understanding of strategic enrollment management concepts and principles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have a great attitude and be a self-starter with the ability to effectively work in a team-oriented, fast-paced atmosphere with high standards for quality, accuracy, and innovation.
  • Creative, open-minded, and enthusiastic about seeking new solutions to challenges,
  • A high degree of professional maturity, creativity, and energy.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience, applying knowledge of business process, logic, and data to answer questions; 5+ experience creating relevant reporting systems/methods and extracting key intelligence.
  • Experience in higher education or related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in quantitative research methodology and data analysis.
  • Strong background in applied use of various statistical tools (e.g., SPSS, SAS) and data visualization (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI, Google Data Studio).
  • Experience using data for strategic planning purposes.
  • Broad understanding and current knowledge of trends in retention and student success, enrollment management, financial aid strategy, and general issues in higher education.
