Job Summary
 

Plans, develops, implements and oversees programs and services in the assigned University Dining's retail and/or residential dining operations on a specific campus and/or location, which may include oversight of both front and back of the house operations. Responsible the management of assigned staff.


Responsibilities
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provides a superior dining hall experience that meets the lifestyle needs of students 

2. Ensures that KSU¿s self-operated dining program provides exceptional food variety, quality, cleanliness and freshness 

3. Assists and coordinates with maintenance staff and KSU Facilities to ensure the dining program has equipment that is well-maintained and functional at all times 

4. Responsible for labor management of assigned employees including but limited to, hiring, employee relations, performance management and scheduling 

5. Responsible for assisting department leaders in managing expenses, generating revenues, and the overall financial success of the dining program 

6. Assists leaders in implementing new culinary programs and promotions in conjunction with the marketing and culinary team 

7. Manages, trains and develops staff to include direct reports


Required Qualifications
 

Educational Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent
Other Required Qualifications
Manager ServSafe certified or obtains certification within twelve (12) months of hire
Required Experience
Two (2) years of relevant work experience at a food service establishment as a supervisor or assistant manager


Preferred Qualifications
 

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
Preferred Experience
Previous experience in a higher education food service setting in a supervisor or Assistant manager role

ABILITIES
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
Able to communicate with a variety of internal and external customers
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of and proficient in HAACP Standards
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Must be a self-starter
This position must be skilled in critical thinking, relationship building and customer service
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette

This position does not have any financial responsibilities.
This position will not be required to drive.
This role is not considered a position of trust.
This position does not require a purchasing card (P-Card).
This position may travel 1% - 24% of the time.
