Manager of DCE Studios

Job Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director of Online Course Technology and Innovation, and working closely with the Teaching and Learning Team managed by the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning, the Manager of DCE (Division of Continuing Education) Studios will manage all of day-to-day operations of the current studio at 1 Story Street and the brand new DCE studio located at One Brattle Square. This important role will be crucial in offering interactive learning experiences for Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) cross-listed courses, asynchronous courses, as well as various partnerships around campus. In addition to managing the studio spaces, and the studio staff working there, this role will oversee all functionality, maintenance and training on all AV within the studios.

Job-Specific Responsibilities

• Oversee the operation of DCE studios. Lead the development of HELIX Forum as a course and event delivery technology. Includes development of the new studio at 1 Brattle Square, creation of a business and operational model for use of the studios by DCE and other schools of Harvard. Recruitment and support of FAS faculty to offer live, interactive studio sessions for DCE students.
• Supervise future upgrades, AV renovations and daily maintenance of all studio hardware in both DCE studio spaces. Develop AV designs with vendors. Create budgets and proposals for all studio related purchases
• Establish studio rules and best practices. Create and updated documentation and procedures. Train full-time and less-than-half-time temporary employees on studio processes, pre-production, production, and post-production expectations
• Conduct in-depth tours and demonstrations of studios and HELIX Forum for internal and external clients. Presenting on HELIX Forum at conferences will also be required
• Assess the pedagogical and technological needs of all faculty ahead of each session and create pathways for faculty to achieve those goals
• Research and identify changing audio-visual technologies to keep the studio spaces at the forefront of online learning options
• Direct and produce studio shoots as needed. This will entail managing the real-time work of a rolling list of videographers and producers
• Create promotional material to advertise the studio space and HELIX Forum format to other Harvard Schools and executive education programs around campus

Additional Qualifications and Skills

• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• AV design and project management skills
• Experience in online education
• In-depth knowledge of AV hardware and software technologies
• Considerable experience running live online events
• Experience in shooting multi-camera productions, lighting, audio, technical direction and post-production
