The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences seeks an experienced and skilled professional to join the technology team. As Manager of Information Technology, you will oversee the direct technical support needs at The College dean's office and participate in broader technical needs assessments and planning efforts throughout The College. You will be confident addressing technical challenges in high-pressure situations and experienced with real-time problem-solving.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Information Technology, the Manager of Information Technology will also interact with the extended technology team, including unit-level personnel and Enterprise Technology support, web, and information security. This role will support the executive director in working with academic units and centers across The College and representing college interests at the university level as needed.

The ideal candidate will be well-versed in ASU's enterprise suite of tools and applications (e.g., systems management, communications/collaboration platforms, project management and ticketing systems, A/V) and have a proven background in customer service. The candidate will also be a proactive planner, anticipating future technical challenges and needs and proposing solutions.

The Dean's Office environment sets the tone for The College, leading by example and ensuring that technology solutions comply with university policy and scaling to the size and scope needed to support our large and diverse faculty, staff, and student worker population.

Salary Range

$73,255 - $90,000 per year; DOE


Essential Duties

  • Oversee endpoint device and software support, including desktop, laptop, tablet, mobile devices, A/V, software installation and updates, imaging and provisioning, Office 365, printer configurations, network connections and activations, Windows, and Mac.
  • Oversee endpoint management tools (JAMF, SCCM, Active Directory, Group Policy).
  • Manage technology in support of events, including A/V planning, setup and configuration, video conferencing, live-streaming, and coordinating with The College Events team to ensure a seamless experience for all parties.
  • Work closely with The College Facilities team, college units, and Enterprise Technology to establish A/V standards and implement best practices for setup, use, and maintenance across The College.
  • Manage college-level business workflows using enterprise tools. Explore and implement tolls to expand and improve existing workflows (and create new ones) to increase efficiency and reduce errors. Strive for continuous process improvement and automation.
  • Create and manage a series of technology workshops to promote better use and best practices with enterprise tools within The College.
  • Maintain a positive, friendly, can-do customer service approach in all situations. Foster trust and build relationships with other team members, college staff and faculty.
  • Communicate clearly and frequently to ensure all colleagues and customers know what to expect and when.
  • Maintain flexibility during peak times of the academic year (e.g., semester starts/ends, high-profile events, technology upgrades, and migrations), including after-hours and weekend support as needed.
  • Work with ASU's approved vendors to build relationships and establish regular check-ins to stay abreast of new technologies and initiatives.
  • Create technical documentation and one-sheets to empower customers and reduce overall support volume.
  • Oversee and prioritize support tickets to ensure timely and thorough resolution of all requests.
  • Support customers working in multiple modalities (e.g., in-person, remote, via Zoom and Slack, phone)
  • Be available to represent and speak to the technology needs of The College in various settings as required.
  • Serve as Brand Administrator for The College in enterprise instance of Qualtrics.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or related field AND five years of related experience, which includes three years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Working Environment

Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking. Visual acuity and manual dexterity associated with daily use of desktop computer; bending, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 20 pounds. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.

Flexible work option:
Hybrid work is an arrangement where employees spend a minimum of 60% of their regular workweek at their primary ASU work location. Dean or departmental approval is required.
