Job Description

Job Summary:

Provides direct supervision of all Health Information Management functions and personnel to include, but not limited to: Health Information Documentation, Release of Health Information, Document Imaging, Tumor Registry, Transcription Services, Patient Transportation, and Medical Record Retention and Storage.

Job Schedule: On Site

Job Duties:

 1. Responsible for staff hiring, training, evaluation, supervision, and advancement or termination.

2. Oversees the maintenance of health information applications such as Epic, OnBase, LifeImage, Mosaiq, Harmony, IDX, etc.

3. Manages, plans, and coordinates the day-to-day operations of Health Information.

4. Prepares reports, audits current procedures to monitor efficiency of operations, and implements process improvement.

5. Directs and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in analyzing, compiling, indexing, releasing, tumor registry, and retention medical records of patients.

6. Analyzes data and prepares statistical reports.

7. Assists in budget planning.

8. Coordinates with clinical and Information Technology departments on procedural changes and improvements.

9. Prepares information and correspondence regarding new HIM processes for distribution to Providers and Clinical Staff.

10. Maintenance of various HIM Incident Reporting work queues.

11. Ensures compliance with The Joint Commission and Federal / State standards for HIM.

12. Coordinates administrative and operational activities in accordance with established standards, regulatory and legal requirements.

13.  Addresses customer complaints and grievances as needed.

14.   Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education:

Associate degree in business or health care related field is required. Bachelor's degree in business or health care related field is preferred.

Experience:

Five (5) years of experience in health information is required. Three years of supervisory experience is preferred.

Additional Licenses and Certifications:

Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) is preferred.


Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) is required.
