Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Marketing and Events Program Manager in the Center for Global Business at Maryland Smith is part of the global business education team that offers a wide range of interdisciplinary global experiential learning programs for business students and consulting programs to Maryland’s small and medium businesses. The position supports the strategic operations of the Center and manages critical communications and activities that align with Maryland Smith’s strategic plan and advance the Center’s mission. The incumbent specializes in marketing and communications, flyer and advertising design, event planning and implementation, and recruitment and outreach. They perform a variety of critical tasks in social media, direct, website, and other forms of marketing; program and event planning, including budget management; data collection and analysis to assess Center performance; relationship management for creating pipelines of students and clients; and general administration. The Manager leads the annual program for International Education Week, supports recruitment for the MD Global Consulting Program, manages the Center’s web and social media presence, curates content for the Center’s publications such as the monthly newsletter The Source, and organizes events at the Center.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree.
Experience:
Three years of relevant experience in events and marketing is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Event planning and coordination.
  • Content marketing, social media management, email marketing, and graphic design; fluency in social media, direct e-mail, and website marketing, including analytics.
  • Basic graphic design skills and willingness to expand skill set.
  • Excellent writing skills for a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, particularly in an intercultural business environment.
  • Mature judgment.
  • Proven ability to make effective use of time, plan ahead, and coordinate multiple projects.
  • Highly developed organizational and computer skills, with strict attention to detail.
  • Friendly, flexible, professional, service-oriented manner.
  • Proven ability to respond positively to pressures of time and workload.
  • Ability to complete tasks both individually and as part of a team. Ability to work evenings and weekends for special events.

Physical Demands
Traditional office environment. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for the majority of the day. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
