Manager, Financial Services (Remote)

Reporting to the Director of Financial Services the Financial Services Manager is a full-time position. The Financial Services Manager will advise and assist students with the student finance process, provide leadership to financial services staff members, and oversee day-to-day operations of Financial Services Advisors.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Assist the Director/Associate Director of Student Finance with hiring, training, monitoring and motivating financial services staff members to meet and exceed budgeted packaging objectives.

  • Train and manage financial services staff members by monitoring and advising staff on day-to-day activities to achieve positive customer service outcomes.

  • Provide leadership and maintain regulatory compliance on financial aid issues and reports by maintaining a working knowledge of Federal, State and Institutional Policies governing the various student aid programs utilized by Ashford University students, such as the programs provided by Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965.

  • Oversee financial aid processing from document intake, awarding, disbursement and withdrawal via CampusVue activities and letter series.

  • Oversee staff production, and ensure overall financial services staff performance goals are met or exceeded in the following areas: document tracking, packaging, account aging and accounts receivable, activities completed in CampusVue, and customer service incoming and outgoing calls.

Additional Job Duties (include but are not limited to):

  • Complete and oversee National Student Loan Database System (NSLDS) to determine student financial aid status.

  • Advise students and their families as necessary on student finance matters.

  • Research and provide assistance on escalated customer service issues and resolve accordingly.

  • Work closely with all departments and implement processes in a team environment.

  • Develop staff morale to be productive in a positive work environment.

  • Provide excellent customer service and utilize effective communication skills.

  • Ability to create, monitor, analyze and report out on staff performance.

  • Other duties/projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required or 3 to 5 years of experience with Federal, State and Institutional student aid programs.

  • Excellent verbal, written, customer service and management skills.

  • Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

  • Knowledge of internal control concepts and principles.

  • Good analytical skills.

  • Strong professional and positive leadership skills.

  • Knowledge of the educational environment and how training and education relates to the job market.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of financial aid experience within a centralized student finance structure.

  • One to two years of supervisory experience.
