Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean for Administration, Finance & Operations, the Manager of Financial Operations has multiple responsibilities including directing the transactional operations, financial reporting, budget, internal controls, regulatory compliance, endowment accounting, and performing strategic planning for the Law School.
The manager
• Manages the William & Mary Law School financial operations in support of the Law School Mission; including all operations in accordance with Federal, State, university, Foundation, and Accounting industry regulations.
• Provides guidance and reliable and timely financial reports to senior management, the Law School Community and to the Board of the Law School Foundation.
• Directs the day to day operations related to all aspects of financial accounting including. transactional accounting; budget preparation and forecasting; departmental, dean’s level, and board level reporting.
• Ensures compliance with all college, state and federal regulations; and compliance with donor intent.
• Continuously assesses efficiency and industry best practices and implements changes as required.

Position requires work outside of normal operating hours including evenings, weekends and holidays, as needed.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or finance or comparable education or experience.
• Extensive, progressive experience in higher education or government organizations.
• Experience in all areas of position responsibility, particularly financial reporting, and budget development.
• In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Detailed experience with administrative enterprise systems.
• Managerial/supervisory experience including personnel management, problem solving skills, and strong communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
• Advanced degree in related field, and/or certification or licensure in a financial field (CPA, CMA).
• Experience in Banner enterprise system including specific experience in areas of position responsibility.
• Knowledge of the Commonwealth of Virginia’s business process and systems.

Advertised Pay Range Up to $90,000

All hiring rates are commensurate with relevant experience up to the advertised amount considering internal alignment.
