Manager, External Relations

The MFRI External Relations Manager will play a significant role in managing all aspects of relationships with MFRI’s external stakeholders, including all communication, stewardship and cultivation activities of MFRI; preparation and production of print and digital materials and campaigns; planning and implementation of special events; and documentation of program accountability.  The External Relations Manager will lead strategies for developing and deepening relationships with all of MFRI’s stakeholders at Purdue, in Indiana, and beyond.  Will administratively supervise staff.

Required:  

• MA/MS in Marketing, Management, Public Relations, or related field
• Minimum of three years of experience in external relations or related field such as, developing marketing, communications, and/or public relations strategies and supervising staff to implement those strategies
• Experience in designing, writing, and editing using a variety of media, such as print, electronic, and mass media
• Experience using Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, WordPress etc..
• Verbal/written communication skills
• Leadership and management abilities: ability to coordinate staff members, including prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines and coordinating many simultaneous tasks
• Planning and organizational skills: ability to coordinate and track details of multiple projects simultaneously
• Interpersonal skills: ability to work effectively with others in a diverse and inclusive work environment
• Superior networking skills with the ability to develop effective partnerships with key partners and stakeholders  

Preferred:

• Experience within military family and/or family prevention programs as well as supervisory experience 
• Entrepreneurial and creative individual who is relational, strategic, goal-oriented, and demonstrates maturity in decision-making
