Position Summary

Enterprise Data & Analytics leads campus-wide enterprise data and analytics including data governance, architecture, data and application integration, database administration, and business intelligence such as reporting and analytics. This team sets the tone for UCLA's data culture, further ingraining data usage into the university's ways of working. The Enterprise Data & Analytics team manages the technology, processes, and support needed to equip university stakeholders with thorough, secure, and accessible data. The Reporting and Analytics team drives data-driven decision making at UCLA by providing delivering advanced data analytics, learning analytics, data modeling, automation, reporting and dashboarding, and other business intelligence solutions.

 

The Manager, Enterprise Reporting & Analytics will lead an innovative team of reporting developers, and business analysts, to design, develop, test, and deploy cutting-edge business intelligence, data visualizations, and data analytics. This role will have a primary focus on advancing enterprise-wide reporting systems, particularly for critical systems such as the cloud-based ERP. The Manager, Enterprise Reporting & Analytics, will collaborate closely with other information technology departments on cross-functional initiatives, driving actionable insights derived from comprehensive enterprise reporting and providing insights and data-driven recommendations to shape the university's future IT roadmap. The emphasis will be on enhancing reporting capabilities for critical systems, ensuring the university stays at the forefront of data-driven decision-making.The Manager, Enterprise Reporting & Analytics will positively impact UCLA's operations and culture by enabling University stakeholders to effectively leverage data and insights in service of the institution's academic mission. This team member will advance the University's mission by delivering exceptional information technology services comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and students. This role will execute UCLA's vision while modeling UCLA's culture and values.


Salary & Compensation
*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications
  • 5 years experience working in one or more of the following fields: information technology, reporting & analytics, business intelligence, data services, or related fields. (Required)
  • 2 years experience leading teams in a management or leadership role, particularly in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment. (Required)
  • Significant experience in reporting, business intelligence, data visualization and modeling, analytics, and emerging data solutions. (Required)
  • Experience in data science and artificial intelligence. (Required)
  • Experience using statistical computer languages (e.g., R, Python, SQL, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets. (Required)
  • Experience working with relational (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake, Redshift) and non-relational (e.g., Mongo, NoSQL) databases. (Required)
  • Experience in data governance processes and development. (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience presenting complex technical information to audiences of technical and non-technical stakeholders. (Required)
  • Significant experience working in a project-based environment using leading project management practices. (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience providing inclusive leadership of others, cultivating an inclusive environment that values equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging. (Required)
  • 7+ years experience working in one or more of the following fields: information technology, reporting & analytics, business intelligence, data services, or related fields. (Preferred)
  • 5+ years experience leading teams in a management or leadership role, particularly in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment. (Preferred)
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex data sets, including understanding statistical methods, data mining techniques, and the ability to translate data insights into actionable business strategies. (Required)
  • Thorough knowledge of technical concepts and basic operating principles of data communications, computer hardware, vendor IT products, and software. (Required)
  • Has knowledge of technical architecture, systems use, maintenance, and planning and integration strategies. (Required)
  • Knowledge of budget management, business case development, project management, and organizational change practices. (Required)
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills and is able to communicate work assignments to medium-sized teams. (Required)
  • Advanced project management skills with demonstrated experience delegating responsibility, tracking project progress, supervising others, and advising teams on competing priorities. (Required)
