What we want

The Manager, Communications, under direction, plans, organizes, directs, and manages day-to-day activities, developing and implementing procedures for the administration of the Texas A&M Health Telehealth Institute communications.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Five years of related experience in marketing, communications, public relations and/or brand management

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, problem solving, and organizational skills

  • Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to develop communications, media, and content across mediums

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Institute Communications - Manages multiple projects and priorities. Assists with meetings during project kick-offs and presentations. Maintains documentation for each project including approvals, comments, drafts and artwork. Plans, organizes, directs and manages day-to-day activities, developing and implementing procedures for the administration communication across mediums. Researches market trends and evaluates performance for continual improvement. Works with stakeholders to create and implement strategies to reach intended audiences. Develops written communications that effectively tell the story about the service, education and research conducted by the Telehealth Institute. Crafts, edits and revises copy as needed to ensure content is creative, compelling and accurate. Works closely with the Texas A&M Health Marketing & Communications team to align efforts, amplify messages and maintain editorial standards. Assists with yearly budgetary and contract processes. Prepares vouchers, purchase orders and requisition and coordinate with accounting personnel and other support staff.

  • Communications Development - Develops and implements effective communications plans to achieve goals outlined by institute leadership, and Texas A&M Health marketing and communications leadership. Works with stakeholders to create and implement strategies to reach intended audiences. Creates basic graphics for digital media, including web, email, PowerPoint presentations, social media and digital signage. Maintains knowledge of emerging and current design trends and technology advances to continually improve the products delivered. Aligns all work with university brand guidelines and establishes a design framework that creates a cohesive experience across platforms within the Texas A&M Health brand architecture.  Creates successful, polished email and PowerPoint presentation designs for various products and communication initiatives. 

  • Web Content Management - Assists in the collection and evaluation of content utilization. Works closely with the Texas A&M Health web team to design and execute website projects. Provides critical feedback to UX/UI designers and web developers about functionality, responsiveness, user flows, accessibility, and overall effectiveness of the institute’s websites. Writes and maintains web content following best practices in web writing and accessibility. Maintains the appearance of websites by enforcing university design standards. Maintains and develops communications between internship partners by scheduling conference calls and meeting.

  • Development - Participates in opportunities for professional development in design, emerging digital communication strategies and training. Participates in outreach activities as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned.
