Manager, Charge Capture and Coding

Job Summary:

Manages and leads the coding and charge capture teams to maximize productivity and performance expectations.

Job Duties:

  • Improves coding and documentation practices to optimize revenue captured to ensure the accuracy and completeness of charges and supporting documentation, assures compliant charge capture, and minimizes delays in the billing process.
  • Works collaboratively with clinical areas regarding missing or misdirected charges.
  • Acts as a resource to implement corrective action plans for charging, coding, and documentation issues that occur.
  • Develops, implements, and communicates appropriate compliance policies and procedures for evaluating input, coding and sequencing, and providing accurate data to support ICD and CPT coding.
  • Works closely with Compliance to facilitate coding initiatives, policies/procedures updates and provides subject matter expertise on complex coding related processes within departments.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Education:

    Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, or related field is required.

    Experience:

    Five (5) years experience within a healthcare and/or multi-specialty medical professional billing and physician coding environment with two (2) years progressively responsible supervisory/ management experience is required.

    Additional Licenses and Certifications:

    Accreditation from a professional coding organization, such as American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician (CCS-P) is required.
