Manages budgetary functions for assigned animal facilities, implements programs and procedures that enhance operations, and acts as primary point of contact for Animal Care & Operations. Schedules equipment preventative maintenance and assists with absences and specialized animal care duties for clinical trials.

Essential Functions Plans, designs, and conducts experimental procedures with input from research team and PI. Supervises personnel assigned to work on animal handling procedures and assigns group and work objectives within and across site management structure and corresponding departments. Manages budgetary functions for assigned animal research facilities, implements programs and procedures that enhance operations, and acts as primary point of contact for Animal Care & Operations. Responsible for ensuring compliance with IACUC protocols and regulatory needs as it relates to all ongoing animal studies (rodent, porcine, non-human primate, etc.). Coordinates equipment maintenance, sample and supplies inventory, and assists with absences and specialized animal care duties for clinical trials. Coordinates and assigns group animal care, regulatory responsibilities and work objectives within and across the site management structure and corresponding departments to meet the needs of the Sen lab animal care and related research. Ensures timely updating of IACUC protocols. May work with other members of the Sen lab to ensure creation and/or updating of IACUC protocols. Provides supervision of animal care facility, including manages facility supervisors, recommends, and establishes improvements of facility and site operations, manages space utilization, and abides by all applicable regulations. Manages all day-to-day activities in absence of supervisor. • Oversees staff, including hiring, performance reviews, distributing and overseeing work, and documenting disciplinary actions and other human resource administration. • Maintains budget oversight for a. animal purchases, billing, and purchasing of supplies and equipment. • Ensures proper archiving and inventory of data and animal samples (frozen, formalin fixed, etc.) collected during various procedures. • Conducts regular audits on regulatory and protocol compliance, inventory of stored tissue samples, and data collection relevant to animal studies. • Facilitates equipment maintenance and preventative maintenance scheduling. Facilitates materials and supplies storage and inventory. • Identifies, develops, and implements programs, processes, practices, and procedures that enhance animal care operations, productivity, and efficiency. • Assists with animal care staff absences including, but not limited to, feeding, watering, cleaning, medication administration, weaning, and specialized technical duties related to clinical trials. • Acts as a primary point of contact for outside agencies and internal teams/staff as needed. • Leads meetings as directed.
