Minimum Requirements:

Master's Degree in Education, Student Personnel, Counseling, or a closely related field.  Five years of higher education experience or related field. Additional experience may not be used on a one-to-one basis to offset the educational requirement. Grade 7 (Salaried)

Position Description:

Direct all advising and student services activities for the School of Nursing Traditional and Accelerated BSN programs. These activities include, but are not limited to, student admissions, academic advising, retention, recruitment, orientation, NURS 101, and student programs.  Represent the School of Nursing on internal and external  committees. Supervise all academic counselors in the BSN programs. Provide training and development to BSN academic advising staff on university policies and best practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct BSN undergraduate advising for the School of Nursing.
  • Supervise exempt employees (advisors). Provide direct supervision to Louisville BSN advisors and indirect supervision (dotted line) to Owensboro BSN advisor.
  • Collaborate with marketing and development officers to promote School of Nursing undergraduate programs in the community and encourage alumni relations.
  • Serve as an undergraduate advisor; provide organizational leadership for undergraduate advisors and their respective programs. Oversee degree audits for all graduating pre-licensure BSN students.
  • Collaborate with academic program administrators and advisors to develop, modify, and post course schedule and revise catalog pages for each semester.
  • Coordinate and participate in incoming freshman orientations and NURS 101 course teaching.
  • Serve as the principal liaison between the School of Nursing and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Provost's Office, and other student services (e.g., Housing, Financial Aid, Registrar).
  • Monitor applications processes for BSN program incoming freshman and transfer students. Collaborate with SON undergraduate program administrators as necessary.
  • Monitor SON students' success in general education and pre-requisite Nursing courses.
  • Collaborate with SON administrators to assure proper gathering of recruitment, retention, enrollment, and graduation/completion data. Communicate data to SON academic program leaders, BSN Academic Affairs Committee, and SON administration as needed for program quality and regulatory reporting.
  • Serve as ex-officio member of the BSN Academic Affairs Committee. Prepare student materials for the committee's review. Communicate committee decisions to students as necessary.
  • Collaborate with pre-licensure program administrators for graduation and NCLEX certifications.
  • Submit an annual report.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in advising pre-licensure nursing students.
  • Experience in building and leading teams to support student success.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of undergraduate nursing curricular standards, regulatory reporting, and accreditation requirements.
Target Compensation Maximum:

$87,300.00

Target Compensation Minimum:

$58,200.00

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
