Position Information

The Assistant Director (AD) is responsible for the management and implementation of all aspects of the Student Academic Preparation and Educational Programs (SAPEP) P-20 initiative and the Student Initiative Outreach Program. The AD will be responsible for meeting with a local school district to find ways to provide activities that are geared toward establishing and maintaining community partnerships and intersegmental alliances. Activities may include implementing professional development for educators, counselors, and community-based organizations; supporting shared data systems; and coordinating efforts to raise student achievement levels across districts and regions. In addition, the AD will coordinate SIP which works directly with UCR students who are engaged with student organizations that go out into the community and provide college access/outreach services. Responsibilities include conceptualization, development and implementation of program services described in objectives. The AD will collect, analyze and report data via submission of the annual performance reports as well as be responsible for evaluation. The AD will also provide input to the Executive Director in making decisions regarding allocations of funds and program implementation to meet objectives.

The full salary range for this position is $54,200 - $93,200 annually. However, the expected salary offers for this position is between $54,200 to $65,000 based on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, related experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge of youth and adolescent development theory, including issues facing low-income, first generation urban youth.
Strong knowledge of up-to-date information on K-12 and higher education policies and issues. Ability to assess their impact on program strategies.
Strong communications (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
Strong knowledge and experience working with educational equity programs serving a diverse student population.
Demonstrated cultural competency with respect to race, ethnicity, and socio-economic status.
Knowledge of K-12 and higher education institutions (UC, CSU, CC, etc.), admissions and financial aid requirements, and the ability to interpret policies and procedures to youth, parents, and school representatives.
Strong knowledge of high school graduation and college entrance requirements
Significant experience advising and supporting educationally disadvantaged students regarding postsecondary opportunities and careers.
Ability to establish and maintains cooperative relationships with school district administrators, school counselors, principals, teachers, and community contacts.


Preferred Qualifications

Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish.
