Under the leadership of the Senior Executive Director of Constituency Programs, Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, School of Public Policy, School of Education, Extension, Library and Athletics, and in close collaboration with the dean of the School of Public Policy (SPP), UC Riverside seeks a motivated, energetic, innovative, collaborative, and knowledgeable individual to assume the position of Senior Director of Development for the School of Public Policy. The individual in this position will develop and execute long- and short-term strategies to grow the philanthropic pipeline and secure major gifts ($25,000 and up) in support of the School of Public Policy. The Snr. Director will identify and manage approximately 150 prospective donors and will travel locally and statewide frequently for qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship purposes. The Snr. Director will arrange appropriate opportunities for key faculty and academic leadership to meet with prospective donors and will work collaboratively with other University Advancement colleagues to achieve fundraising goals. The Snr. Director will be instrumental in planning and executing fundraising strategies to achieve goals for the School of Public Policy.

Please note: This is a three-year, renewable contract position that includes the same employee benefits afforded career employees. Additionally, this position is eligible for hybrid accommodations.

This position supports fundraising efforts for the School of Public Policy which offers students and faculty the opportunity to collaborate with policy makers and policy practitioners in a number of policy areas, including environmental (including water), health, energy, economic development, immigration, and social policies.

The full salary range for the Senior Director of Development, School of Public Policy is $107,200 - $207,200 annually. The expected pay scale for this position is between $107,200 and $125,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

As a university employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Minimum Requirements

Expert organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills. Expert project/program management skills, including skills in setting and meeting program/project goals and objectives within budget and time constraints.
Expert written and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen, to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies. Expert skills in making persuasive and compelling presentations of goals and objectives for a location in order to secure gifts.
Expert knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc.
Expert level skills in maintaining confidentiality.
Expert knowledge of all aspects of the location, including current issues of concern for both the campus and/or throughout higher education/healthcare, generally. Expert knowledge of the location, including its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure.
Expert working knowledge of all aspects of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques.
