Position Information

The Associate Director of Annual Giving (ADAG) plays a pivotal role in supporting UC Riverside's Annual Giving program, aligning with the institution's fundraising goals. Working under the direct leadership of the Senior Director of Annual Giving and closely collaborating with the Director of Annual Giving, the ADAG focuses on increasing philanthropic contributions and engagement across diverse stakeholders, including alumni, parents, faculty/staff, students, and friends of the University. Employing integrated marketing strategies encompassing direct mail, phone, email, text, in-person, social media, Giving Day, and crowdfunding, the Associate Director contributes to the implementation of UCR's online engagement and multi-channel solicitation efforts. Emphasizing digital gift strategies, such as email and crowdfunding, the ADAG utilizes digital analytics tools, predictive modeling, segmentation, and data-driven techniques to ensure personalized, timely, and goal-oriented communications. Responsible for a portfolio, this role involves identifying, cultivating, and soliciting gifts, with a specific focus on leadership annual giving level gifts ($1,000 to $25,000). The ADAG emphasizes prospect discovery and cultivation, utilizing both digital and traditional frontline fundraising tactics. Essential skills include relationship building, attention to detail, and project management. The Associate Director will work with the Senior Director of Annual Giving and other Development team members on other fundraising and stewardship initiatives as needed or assigned.

Please note: This is a three-year, renewable contract position that includes the same employee benefits afforded career employees. Additionally, campus presence is required with hybrid accommodations.

The full salary range for the Associate Director, Annual Giving is $78,700 - $145,100 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $78,700 - $82,500 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time.  Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Proven strategic thinker. Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing circumstances in a highly collaborative environment.
Proven computer skills to create documents, spreadsheets, and reports using Word, Access, Excel, or other software applications.
Strong organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills, including skills in creative and effective decision-making and problem identification/avoidance/resolution, and project management skills.
Thorough working knowledge of the location, its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure.
Strong knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc.
Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction, and setting priorities that accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities. Excellent problem-solving skills with proven ability to strategize, prioritize, and multi-task to meet departmental goals/deadlines.

Strong written and interpersonal communication skills to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies.
Thorough working knowledge of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques.

Effective communication skills in order to represent the university orally and in writing to constituencies internal and external to the university.
The capability to segment donors effectively, tailoring solicitation messages to specific donor groups.
Results-oriented mindset, with a focus on meeting or exceeding fundraising goals.


Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of phone, direct mail, and social media and e-giving appeal strategies with annual giving campaigns.

Experience with Raiser's Edge or other constituent databases. Experience with exporting/importing data from or to different software applications; and operating knowledge of Internet for data gathering purposes.

Annual giving fundraising experience in a large public university.

Experience with crowdfunding platforms, outlining successful campaigns or strategies implemented.
