Job Responsibilities

The Major Gifts Program Manager role is a crucial resource and essential to the Wharton Major Gifts Team's infrastructure. This position is responsible for the overall strategy and management of the support for the Major Gifts Team and reports to the Senior Director of Major and Planned Gifts. The successful candidate must be able to manage multiple projects with simultaneous deadlines, as well as work collaboratively as a member of the major gifts team and manage a team of 2 coordinators in a high-volume, quick-paced office. This role will perform various complex programmatic duties that support and advance the Major Gifts team including: building and enhancing processes to support fundraising work, identifying best practices for leveraging our database in support of fundraising work, and evolving the Major Gifts Coordinator team's capacity to support the breadth of Major Gifts work. This position will act as a liaison to teams across Wharton External Affairs and the School, ensuring cohesive communication with all stakeholders including but not limited to faculty, staff, and alumni. This position will be a key resource to Major Gifts colleagues for questions and requests related to fundraising, prospect management and research, and report analysis. This position will support prospect management for the Senior Director of Major Gifts. The successful candidate must possess a commitment to data integrity. This position will manage a team of Administrative Coordinators who operationally and administratively support the Major Gifts team. This position will delegate tasks effectively to the MG Coordinator team.
This position works closely with the Senior Director of Major and Planned Gifts to drive the priorities and initiatives of the Major Gifts team to completion. This position demands independent judgment, discretion, diplomacy, professionalism, and the ability to conduct oneself in a highly professional manner.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 2-3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 5-7 years of experience preferred. Candidate should be professional in demeanor and be adaptable to change, detail oriented, and anticipate problems and solutions and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability and experience in managing or leading people. Knowledge of office procedures required. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and presentations simultaneously under tight deadlines required. Competency with computer software essential. Must have the ability to handle sensitive material and information confidentially. Experience in a fundraising office is highly desired.
