Job Summary
The S.J. Quinney College of Law is seeking a driven, personable, detail-oriented Major Gifts Officer with excellent writing and communication skills to identify, cultivate and solicit major gift prospects for the University. This person will be responsible for working with the rest of the Development and Alumni Relations team to coordinate, plan and implement fundraising activities and alumni events for the College of Law and to help secure financial support from individuals, corporations, and foundations.

Responsibilities
  • Identifies major gift prospects and travels regularly to visit key alumni and friends of the university to solicit gifts and cultivate relationships.
  • Prepares major gift prospect strategies for comprehensive fund-raising campaigns for the university by developing specific plans for individual donors.
  • Plans and executes fundraising and alumni relations events to cultivate and steward relationships with donors and alumni
  • Directs activities to identify, cultivate and solicit significant donations from the university’s major giving prospects and donors.
  • Prepares and writes individual proposals to solicit contributions.
  • Prepares and sends stewardship and impact reports to donors.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business, or a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four years of experience in high-end repeat sales or direct fund-raising required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communications skills also required. Fund-raising or repeat sales experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully establish long term relationships with high-end customers is preferred.

    Fundraising experience which includes direct solicitation of contributions, volunteer leadership support, written and verbal presentations, and strategy development.
