Major Gifts Officer

 Plans, implements, and manages fundraising programs for assigned area of responsibility; develops proposals and coordinates fundraising efforts within the department; and identifies, cultivates, stewards, and solicits current and potential donors. Collaborates with executive leadership, leadership, and faculty on strategic initiatives and campaign management. Crafts major donor recognition collateral and recruits and leads volunteer solicitors.
The University of Pittsburgh’s Division of Philanthropic & Alumni Engagement (PAE) cultivates relationships with contributors, alumni, and other constituents on behalf of the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC, generating support for teaching, research, and care. The University of Pittsburgh’s Division of Philanthropic & Alumni Engagement (PAE) is seeking a Major Gift Officer (MGO) to join a progressive team within our Individual Giving Department’s Central Major Gifts Team. Learn more about the team by viewing this video link: https://vimeo.com/811405578 MGOs are expected to: Fundraise from prospective donors evaluated with the capacity to donate $100,000 or more as well as build a diverse and sustainable portfolio Effectively manage critical relationships with current and prospective donors to meet both short and long-term fundraising objectives for the University Consistently initiate contacts with potential major donors Develop and execute strategies to cultivate and maintain relationships, solicit, and close major gifts Possess the needed competencies and skills to solicit individual gifts and build long-term sustainable relationships with prospective donors and will have a successful track record of doing so Travel at least 30% of the time. MGO responsibilities are focused on fundraising from prospective donors evaluated with the capacity to donate $100,000 or more and include: Substantive discussions with potential donors to confirm their giving capacity and to assess their interest in providing financial support to the University Designing and completing cultivation tasks Collaborate with colleagues in other divisions, including those within PAE, other academic units, Schools, Athletics and other units across the university Creating and executing complex multi-dimensional strategies leading to gift agreements Creating endowment and pledge agreements Creating and implementing stewardship strategies Maintaining accurate records in PAE's databases system in a timely fashion.

Essential Functions • Must be able to regularly move about inside the office to access cabinets, office equipment, etc. • Must be able to travel to locations outside of the office independently, without physical assistance. • Must be able to lift at least 20 pounds. • Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery (e.g., copier, fax machine). • Must be able to sit for prolonged durations • Must have vision correctable to a level where an individual can operate a computer, visualize text on a computer monitor.
Physical Effort Must be able to travel. Moderate physical effort required. May be required to stand/move for several hours at a time. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
