The Department of External Relations, Development, at the Stanford Graduate School of Business seeks a Major Gifts Associate. The Associate will work closely with the major gifts team and stakeholders across the GSB and University to ensure excellent customer relationships with our donors and alumni. The Major Gifts Associate will provide general administrative support to four major gift officers and will be responsible for a range of programmatic and administrative assignments within the major gifts team, many of which will be specifically related to the team’s central fundraising, cultivation, and stewardship goals.

Your primary responsibilities include: 

  • Provide administrative support to the department, including budgeting and reimbursements, and tracking funds. 

  • Build a network of relevant contacts and stay informed on current university initiatives and activities. 

  • Facilitate preparations for key donor meetings and development officer travel, including developing itineraries and drafting briefings 

  • Retrieve information about prospects and donors, update records, and generate reports using the university external relations database. 

  • Assist in the design, publication and production of select fundraising or communications materials.  


To be successful in this position, you will bring:  

  • Demonstrated ability with Microsoft Office, the Google suite, Zoom, and working proficiency with basic spreadsheet formulas and data analysis tools. 

  • Knowledge of database systems, such as Excel, Google Sheets, Google Calendar, and Salesforce. 

  • Ability to work efficiently, juggle tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, and achieve goals. 

  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a wide range of people. 

  • Outstanding communication skills and exceptional attention to detail and follow-through. 

  • Exercise discretion in working with highly confidential and sensitive information.  

  • Comfort with technology and data management. 

In addition, preferred requirements include:  

  • Valid California Non-commercial Class Driver's License.
