  • Performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on campus buildings, facilities, equipment or machinery. 
  • Assembles, installs and/or repairs: wiring, electrical and electronic components, plumbing/pipe systems, physical structures, fixtures, paint, HVAC systems, locks/access systems, compressors, generators, engines, etc. 
  • Diagnoses problems and determines corrective solutions, referring to and/or adhering to building codes, blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary. 
  • Repairs or replaces defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools and reassembles equipment. 
  • May lead other maintenance staff on projects or assist in a general maintenance capacity when others are in a lead role. 
  • Maintains parts, supplies, and equipment advising supervisor when supplies need to be ordered. 
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including general building maintenance duties. Drives University vehicles as needed. Works any shift as needed. 24-hour a day emergency response as needed. Assist with snow removal activities as necessary. 

EDUCATION

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 5 years Verifiable journey-level experience OR Certificate in DOL apprenticed trade (electrical/plumbing/HVAC/carpentry)

Preferred

  • Locksmith experience. Including, but not limited to pinning cores, cutting keys, hinges, doors and door hardware.

  • May be required to acquire and maintain position-required certifications 

This role requires the ability to remain in a stationary position as well as the ability to move about the workplace for long durations. It requires effective communication, the ability to operate machinery, tools, and controls. The role requires the ability to ascend/descend ladders/stairs, and to position oneself in low level positions, detect a variety of chemicals and/or gases. The role requires the ability to ascend to rooftops and move in tight spaces to perform and complete inspections. This position requires the ability to move and transport objects and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation. 

Must be available to work during inclement weather (i.e. snow and ice) when weather emergencies dictate that the department is needed to take care of the campus.

This is an in-person position.

$57,514.82 - $62,514.82 annually dependent upon qualifications and experience. 

Monday-Friday: 7:00AM - 3:30PM. 

Will participate in an on-call rotation.
