The Opportunity:

Join our dynamic Maintenance Team as a Maintenance Technician II to provide essential support for the operational maintenance and sanitation of campus.  As an essential member of our team, you will troubleshoot issues, providing service for and responding to requests from customers and staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform planned scheduled work or as assigned by the supervisor defined as preventive maintenance (PM). Conduct PM repair (PMR) which are repairs of defects found during a (PM or PDM).Planned work can be identified as part of the following skilled trades:Intermediate skill level with plumbing, electrical, painting and carpentry. Maintain and repair plumbing equipment including but not limited to drinking fountains, faucets, toilets, drains, urinals, sinks, garbage disposal. Maintain and replace lighting components, outlets, switches, motors, pumps and compressors.

  • Conduct corrective repairs in reaction to a user reporting issues to restore functionality.

  • Repair and replace heating components, valves and soft water.

  • Repair and maintain exhaust and supply air ventilators; maintain and replace filters, perform carpentry repairs to floors doors, windows and walls.

  • Perform painting work to exterior and interior areas, equipment and building components.

  • Refresh faded paint, parking lines, ADA, stencils, stop bars, arrows, cross walk, wheel stops, center lines, motorcycle, hash lines, fire protection riser pipes, hatch lines and bollards at parking garages and lots in campus, Lake Nona, Downtown Orlando and Rosen.

  • Perform support work by assisting with work done by central shops, contractors, other zones and departments, or events on campus.

  • Perform routine work defined as recurring work that has no specific frequency and remains open for an explicit amount of time.

  • Complete work orders in timely manner and report any condition needing attention.

Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for multiple trades and 3 years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma and 3 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Flexible for utilization by trade with most urgent requirements.

  • Ability to read blueprints.

  • Ability to use various electrical meters and construct and install power supplies.

  • Demonstrated experience with operation and powered drain-cleaning machine.

  • Knowledgeable of water and gas shut-off points.

  • Painting knowledge and skills.

  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Ability to communicate in conversational English to work effectively with customers and team members; operate electronic equipment (iPod Touch for AiM PM checkpoints); and comprehend standard safety procedures and utilize telecommunication devices.

  • Demonstrated capabilities in interpersonal skills, memory, attention to detail, calculation, reading, evaluating, comprehension and organizing.

  • Demonstrated ability to use various computer programs including and/or equivalent to Microsoft Office and the Integrated Work Management System (IWMS).

  • Ability to use chemicals approved by Environmental Health and Safety to perform essential job functions daily.

Health Assessment Required:  

The UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.

Special Instructions to the Applicants:

Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license. This position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.

Applicant may be required to participate in respiratory, medical examination and training in use of respirators.
