Plant Operations -RPC

The Maintenance Technician I role performs installations, maintenance, and repairs of the university¿s building systems. The main responsibilities of this role are the preventive maintenance and repair of the university¿s building systems, equipment, facilities, and grounds. Work involves the maintenance of systems, interior lighting, and fixtures, outside lighting (fixtures and poles), apparatus, and appliances requiring the use of standard tools. This position works with moderate independence using a variety of general maintenance, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC skills to perform assigned tasks

Significant duties and responsibilities include: Repairs and maintains doors, floors, windows, partitions, ceilings, exteriors of buildings, and various other building finishes.; Installs locks, doorknobs, and other building hardware.; Performs general preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of building HVAC systems and equipment.; Performs work to underground piping systems including but not limited to domestic water, sewer storm drains, and other similar systems.; Performs work to building piping including but not limited to industrial and domestic water, sewer and other drain lines, air gas and vacuum lines, and other piping systems.; Installing conduits, wires, pull boxes, switchboards, and switches required in making additions, extensions, or alterations in electrical systems and low-voltage systems.; Services, repairs, and maintains lighting and electrical systems, some low voltage.; Repairs and replaces defective parts in motors, generators, pumps, storage batteries, switchboards, controllers, contactors, switches, and other electrical fixtures and appliances.; Actively participates in on-call after-hours duties on a rotation basis as directed/assigned.; Other duties may be assigned.

Required qualifications include: High school diploma or GED supplemented by a minimum of 2 or more years of skilled work experience in maintenance or any equivalent combination of training and experience.; A valid Driver's License is required.

The proposed annualized salary range for this position is $34,868 - $37,852 and includes full benefits.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include: Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment of the skilled trades.; Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of trades.; Must demonstrate a high priority toward serving both internal and external customers in a courteous and timely manner.; Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.; Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and diagrams.; Demonstrates ability to supervise outside contractors.; Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.; Demonstrate polite, cooperative, and respectful behavior.
