Position Purpose
1. Supervise the daily operations of Carpenter Shop to include: Plan, schedule, and assign daily, weekly, and monthly work orders and
carpenter shop personnel; maintain accurate daily records of shop personnel and inventory; recommend expenditures for budget; develop material and labor cost estimates for maintenance and shop projects; appraise work in progress; check and review completed work; contact vendors; requisition, approve, maintain, coordinate, and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment.
2. Supervise the Carpenter Shop personnel to include: train and evaluate the performance of employees; conduct new employee orientations and routine safety meetings; conduct performance appraisals; assign daily, weekly, and special project assignments; approve leave requests and adjust the work schedule as needed; participate in the interview process for new hires. Recommend new hires. Recommend transfers and promotions; determine and administer disciplinary action for employees in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding and/or University policy and procedure.
3. Assist the Projects Manager, to include: recommend improvements to policies, procedures, scheduling practices, etc… to ensure optimal utilization of resources; assist in the design, engineering, planning, and execution of projects as they relate to the Carpenter Shop; perform other duties as asigned.

Professional trade school completion or related military experience may be substituted for experience at a 1

Experience
1. Must have at least four years combined carpentry vocational training and job experience as a seasoned trades person. (considered as 
a master level craftsperson). 
2. Two years supervisory experience in a multi-disciplinary shop.
