Maintenance Service Worker- UAA Housing Facilities Maintenance Summer 2024

Under supervision, may routinely perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and light construction duties in a combination of several trades or crafts such as plumbing; carpentry; painting; landscape and agricultural installation and maintenance; light construction; and equipment maintenance by performing the following duties:
• Keep buildings and grounds in clean and orderly condition including but not limited to trash removal, raking, mowing, spraying, and other general maintenance.
• Remove hazards from buildings and grounds including snow, ice, debris, animal wastes, construction materials, and other items as required.
• Assist in maintaining buildings and grounds including snow removal, ice control, repairing fences, gates, landscape, walls, walks and signs.
• Assist in minor plumbing, electrical and carpentry. Drywall repairs, texture, priming and painting. Troubleshooting doors, locks and appliances. Making repairs to furniture and windows.
• Use work orders, including computerized systems, to maintain inventories and issue materials. Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins and performs periodic inventories.
• Remove trash from rooms and buildings; perform floor maintenance including, sweeping, mopping, carpet cleaning, etc.
• 3 years of driving experience is preferred.
• Other duties as assigned.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform a variety of landscaping and maintenance duties to ensure exceptional in-house grounds and building maintenance service. Must be focused on customer service and committed to providing our students and guests with an attractive, clean, and healthy educational environment. Ability to provide a high degree of customer service. Individuals must demonstrate ability to complete tasks on schedule and have effective communication skills both written and verbal. Must be reliable, dependable and punctual.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience: Any combination of education and experience which clearly demonstrates the skills and abilities necessary to accomplish the essential functions of the job.

May require a current valid driver's license, must meet UA safe driving requirements.

FERPA certification or certification completion within 30 days of the job start date.
Title IX certification or certification completion within 30 days of the job start date.
Behavior Based Safety (BBS) certification or certification completion within 30 days of the job start date.
Workplace Harassment Prevention certification or certification completion within 30 days of the job start date.

Position Details:

Salary: 17.10/hour

This is a full-time temporary position from May 2024-August 2024.

Applicants must be available to work & complete the entire job assignment employment period in order to receive the discounted student housing benefit of shared, same gender apartment housing for the summer. The $2800 value of housing cost is discounted to $450 and is for the entire summer employment period including interim periods. To qualify for this benefit, applicant must also qualify for student summer housing with UAA and follow all Residence Life policies related to summer housing and campus living. If the position is vacated early, the entire housing costs may be evoked and fees assessed equal to the summer sessions (including interim periods) housing cost.
