Maintenance Mechanic

Join Purdue University Fort Wayne:

We are currently seeking a full-time on-site Maintenance Mechanic in our Operations and Maintenance department. This position responds to daily work orders and performs preventative and regular maintenance. The hours for this position are 6:30am-2:30pm with $18.50/hr as the pay.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Respond to daily work orders.
  • Perform preventative maintenance. 
  • Clean heating and cooling coils.                                                                                                                   
  • Install, repair, replace, and maintain door hardware, plumbing fixtures, and lighting fixtures.
  • Reset breakers, replace fuses and motor fans.
  • Assist outside contractors in locating facilities and equipment.
  • Identify and diagnose problems with electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems.
  • Check and assist in logging equipment recordings.          
  • Attend training to keep current with changing technology advances.
  • Assist other department staff and co-workers in performing a variety of tasks.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 3 years of general building maintenance experience.
  • Good mechanical ability.
  • The ability to move, lift, carry, push and pull 50 to 80 pounds occasionally.  
  • The ability to work at various heights. 
  • A valid driver’s license with the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Mechanical, electrical, plumbing and preventive maintenance experience.
  • Commercial or industrial experience.
