WSU Vancouver Facilities Services is looking for a Maintenance Mechanic 2 to join the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (M.E.P.) team and a Maintenance Mechanic 1 to join the Building, Architecture, and Maintenance (B.A.M.) team. 

Summary of Duties:

Maintenance Mechanic 1 will perform a variety of semi-skilled and sub journey work in the operations, maintenance, repair remodeling and construction of buildings, grounds, machinery, mechanical facilities and equipment. In addition, this position might perform general maintenance, repair, and remodeling tasks as assigned in interior and exterior building systems, such as walls, ceilings, floors, roofs. Proposes and provides estimates for changing door specifications.

Maintenance Mechanic 2 position is assigned to the Facilities Operations Department at WSU Vancouver and under general supervision perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work in the operation, maintenance, repair, remodeling and construction of buildings, grounds, machinery, mechanical facilities, equipment, and licensed or unlicensed vehicles. This position will utilize general knowledge of several related skills such as electrical, plumbing, welding, carpentry, mechanic and machinist work.  

Required Qualifications:

Depending on your level of experience and education, this position will begin as either a Maintenance Mechanic 1 or a Maintenance Mechanic 2.

Maintenance Mechanic 1 (MM1)

High school graduation or equivalent and two years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction, or repair work; OR equivalent education/experience.

Maintenance Mechanic 2 (MM2)

High school graduation and four years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction or repair work or completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanic trade; OR equivalent education/experience.

MM2 Additional Requirements:

Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license may be required.

MM2 Preferred Qualifications:

Journey level license or certification in the following trades such as: HVAC, electrical, refrigeration, plumbing, mechanical, general contractor or other trades.

Experience operating motorized equipment such as tractors and lifts.

Experience operating a forklift or ability to obtain a forklift certification within 9 months of hire.

Monthly Salary:

Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.

Maintenance Mechanic 1

$4,117/month ($49,404/year) Step G of R44.

Maintenance Mechanic 2

$4,425/month ($53,100/year) Step G of R47.

Work Location and Schedule: 

This position is not eligible for remote/hybrid work assignments.
