Job Description:

Description of Duties:

  • Assists a Trades Specialist (Electrician) in installing and repairing electrical wiring by performing such tasks as cutting and bending wire and conduit, drilling holes for wiring, and pulling or pushing wiring through openings.

  • Replaces faulty switches, sockets, plugs, fuses, insulators, and other simple elements of electrical systems, fixtures, and appliances.
    Assists in lifting, positioning and fastening objects such as wiring, conduits, and motors.

  •  Repairs and maintains electrical equipment such as vacuum cleaners, electric ranges, and fans by adjusting, cleaning, lubricating and replacing worn or defective parts.

  • Replaces brushes on electric motors and adjusts points and contacts on electric equipment.

  • Lays and repairs electrical cable.

  • As directed, makes emergency repairs to traffic signals.

  • Installs and maintains lighting fixtures. Other reasonable duties as assigned.

  • this title is non-competitive.  No examination is necessary.  However, you must still meet the Minimum Qualifications of the position.

    Candidates must have Two years of experience in electrical work under the supervision of a skilled Electrician, or completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course in the electrical trade.
