Summary of Job Duties:
The Mail Services Assistant is responsible for operating computerized mail metering equipment, preparing daily mail to be sent out and assisting customers with mail questions and postage.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Mail handling, warehouse, front office, packing or shipping experience.
- Must be knowledgeable in Excel. Must be able to create Excel spreadsheets.
Responsibilities:
Operate the computerized mail metering equipment.
Enter accounts and postage into the electronic accounting system and apply postage.
Train new employees on equipment.
Perform data back-ups as needed.
Prepare bulk mail in a manner approved by the US Postal Service to allow for the bulk mailing discounts.
Maintain a working knowledge of mailing equipment and postal rates and standards.
Properly maintain set up and adjustment of the folding/inserting machine (PFE) and mail meter equipment.
Sort US and departmental mail into sorting hold out slots.
Distribute sorted mail into mailboxes.
Determine correct routing of insufficiently addressed mail.
Other duties as assigned.
