LTE Simulation Lab Specialist

The Simulation Lab Specialist works with the Healthcare Simulation Lab Coordinator to organize and run activities in the health and public safety simulation labs. This position assists health and public safety program instructors in the preparation of instructional materials and operation of scenarios, ensuring proper use of the simulation areas and adherence to current best practices in simulation education. This position operates and maintains equipment and performs related work as required.

 

Position is an LTE position with grant funding through May of 2026, continuation of position beyond the grant will be based on approval of role within operational budget.

  • Set up labs according to scenario requirements to include mixing and dispensing solutions, preparing moulage, setup of simulators, props and medications, and required paperwork.
  • Conduct simulation exercises to aid in healthcare and public safety education and training.
  • Demonstrate proper operation of equipment and instruments to include audiovisual equipment, task trainers, computer-based virtual simulations, and medical equipment.
  • Maintain proper working condition of all simulators, instruments, and equipment by assessing failures and performing adjustments and repairs.
  • Maintain a neat, organized facility and upkeep of the simulation prep room, control rooms and labs.
  • Maintain records and documentation on all simulation equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain simulation-based education and knowledge and conduct simulations accurately and independently in a timely fashion.
  • Collaborate with team members, sharing ideas and new clinical practices to benefit student learning.
  • Develop documents for educators and students to aid in the fulfillment of simulation activities.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of human patient simulators with an emphasis in Gaumard Scientific technology platforms.
  • Knowledge of simulation-based education theory and methodology for adult learners.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with healthcare medical terminology and pathophysiology.
  • Clinical healthcare knowledge with an emphasis in cardiac, respiratory, and mental health conditions.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, UNI, and Zoom.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Excellent time management, multi-tasking, attention to detail and organizational skills.

    Required Education & Experience:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing or a Healthcare field.
  • Two (2) years of recent clinical patient care.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification for healthcare providers.
  • Blackhawk Technical College does not offer H-1B or other work authorization visa sponsorship for this position. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term.
