Position Summary: 

Reporting to the Cytology Supervisor, incumbents process and sorts multiple specimens, stains cytology samples, prepares direct smears, cytospins, cell blocks and other specimens obtained by fine needle aspiration.  Incumbents will also assist surgeons and physicians with fine needle aspiration when rapid evaluation is not required and assists with GI interventional procedures and processes Autocyte prep system.  Assists with equipment maintenance, quality control, inventory control, and performs computer data entry, filing, answering phones, and providing results to clinicians.  Compiles data for monthly statistics.

Salary Range: 

 

Hourly Rate  Minimum   $28.61             Midpoint      $32.10             Maximum   $35.58

 

Required Qualifications:

  

Two years of applicable experience

Minimum 16 units of applicable Science (such as Chemistry, Biology) and Algebra at the college level

 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of medical computer software systems)
