Brief Summary of Job Description
Responsibilities of the locksmith position include overseeing the installation, maintenance, and control of door locks, door hardware, door operators, keys, and electronic access systems.
Job Duties
Daily activities include cutting keys for interior and exterior doors, ADA openers, maintaining the security and accuracy of the key inventory, keeping key and access databases updated and accurate, enabling and disabling access permissions as needed, and providing checkout services to Faculty, Staff, Students, and approved Vendors. These tasks require the operation of computer systems and various hand and power tools associated with the locksmith trade. Must be able to work independently. Must be able to work safely in varying temperature extremes since some work will occur outdoors. Primary hours will be M-F, 8:00am to 5:00pm, 40 hours with the possibility of emergency after hours.
Required Qualifications
Prior locksmith or carpentry experience. High School Graduate or GED. Valid Nebraska drivers license (within six months of hire) Ability to operate and maintain various tools associated with the locksmith trade. Good oral, writing, and organizational skills. The successful candidate must complete, prior to the start of employment, post-offer employment testing to ensure they can complete the physical demands of the job and a background investigation.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of low voltage and door access control experience. Installers license.
Physical Demands
Physical demands of the position are heavy lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds while walking, climbing, and bending.
Schedule Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm; ocassional weekends and evenings
